When gum diseases remain untreated it causes various major problems. Problem cause due to the lack of adequate dental hygiene that may produce bacterial growth in the mouth, in the resulting plaque is formed on the teeth. It is not easy to diagnose the bacterial growth at an early stage but after some time person gets know due to the experience of some common symptoms like unbearable pain, high fever, bad breath, toothache, gum bleeding, difficulty in chewing.

Gum problem also caused by hormonal changes during pregnancy, use of tobacco, ill-fitted dentures, improper brushing, improper flossing, stress, mouth injuries, diabetes and many others. If your gums are swollen and red use tartar- control toothpaste and make sure you brush after every meal and snacks. And if you don’t brush after every meal then use a toothpick or rinse your mouth form warm water in order to stay prevent from gum problems.

But after all prevention still your gums become damage then you can sooth the pain and swelling of gum with oral hygiene and home remedies. But if you have swollen gum for more than two weeks then do contact the doctor. Here are top ten remedies for gum pain.

1. Clove

Clove is the best remedy for gum pain. You can place clove as it is between your gums or use clove water as a mouthwash. You simply boil cloves in water for 20 minutes and stain it. Place it for two hours until it gets cold and fills it in airtight water. Use it as a mouthwash.

2. Salt water

Salt water stops the growth of bacteria in your month that affects your gums and prevents infection. You can use salt water right after brushing your teeth. Take a pinch of salt and rub gently on your gum for five minutes. Rinse your mouth with lukewarm water. Do it once a day. You also use salt water to rinse your mouth two times in a day after your meal.

3. Tea bags

Teabags contain tannins that can help to reduce the inflammation of the gums. Simply boil tea bags in water for two minutes. Remove it and allow it to cool. Hold them on the affected area of your gums for 20 minutes and rinse your mouth with water after that. Do at least two times in a day for few days.

4. Neem

Neem is used in India for a thousand different healing remedies included for better dental health. It contains antibacterial and antifungal properties. Rub neem leaf gently on your gum for ten minutes or rinse your mouth with neem water. You can also use neem toothpaste and find neem in mouthwash.

5. Baking soda

Baking soda kills bacteria in your mouth and neutralizes acid that presents in the mouth due to which tooth starts to decay. It secures your gum from infection due to its disinfectant property. Make a thick paste of baking soda with lukewarm water and apply it on the affected area. You can also add salt in it in equal proportion and apply directly.

6. Turmeric Powder

Turmeric contains antibacterial property that fights against bacteria that causes infection in gums. Turmeric also contains anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial property. Take turmeric powder and apply it on your gum with the help of cotton bud. Leave for ten minutes and rinse your mouth with warm water.

7. Onion

Onion is full of anti-inflammatory properties. Crush the onion and apply it directly to the affected area or dip a cotton bud in onion water and place it in between sore gum. Simply chew onion is also an affected way to get rid of gum pain. Use daily for a few days.

8. Lavender oil

Lavender heals your entire gum and mouth problem due to its anti-micro bacteria and anti-infection property. It does not also heal your mouth problems but you also get rid of bad mouth breath. Mix few drops of lavender oil with one cup of water and use it as a mouthwash.

9. Lemon

Lemon is a shield against harmful germs that cause infection. You just need to make a paste by add salt and lemon juice. Rub gently on teeth and gums. Rinse your mouth after some time. It also whitens your teeth.

10. Garlic

Garlic relieves severe pain in gums or you can say it, it is considered a natural painkiller. Crush garlic cloves and add a pinch of salt in it. Mix it well and apply it on painful gums. You can also add olive oil in crush garlic clove.
